Common Pre-Enquiry Questions

We aim to reply to all new enquiries within one business day during our office hours (Sunday to Thursday, 09:00–17:00 EET). Enquiries received on a Thursday after 15:00 or at any point over the weekend are queued for Sunday morning. During Egyptian public holidays, turnaround may extend to two business days. If your trip is within two weeks and you need an urgent response, mention this in your message subject line and we will prioritise accordingly.
Absolutely. Select "Custom / Not sure yet" from the package dropdown, describe your trip in the message field — destination cities, travel window, group composition, any special interests such as photography, accessibility needs or particular historical periods — and we will come back with a recommended package and a firm quote. There is no obligation to purchase after receiving our recommendation.
Explorer and Specialist pack holders can contact us by email with site-specific questions that arise during their trip. We monitor email during business hours and aim to respond to in-trip queries within four hours. We do not provide 24/7 emergency travel assistance — if you require that level of support, we recommend purchasing travel insurance with an in-destination assistance line. Our Specialist pack also includes WhatsApp messaging for the four weeks preceding departure, which many clients use for last-minute logistics questions.
Yes. Our published site index covers the 320 locations in our active research database, but we regularly receive requests for less prominent sites — specific Theban tomb numbers, provincial temples in the Delta, Coptic monasteries in the Eastern Desert or late-antique sites in the Fayum. If we have existing field notes from a visit within the past three years, we can produce a dossier promptly. For sites we have not yet visited, we will provide a transparent assessment of whether a quality guide is achievable within your timeframe and at what cost. We will not produce a guide based on secondary sources alone.
Guide packs that have already been delivered are non-refundable as a rule, since the research and compilation work is complete at that point. However, if your trip is cancelled before delivery of the pack — at any point while the guide is still being assembled — we will issue a full refund within five business days. If your trip is postponed rather than cancelled, we will hold your pack on file and update any time-sensitive logistics data (entry fees, opening schedules, access restrictions) at no extra charge before your rescheduled departure. Contact us as soon as your plans change so we can discuss the best arrangement for your situation.

What Happens After You Submit

Once your enquiry reaches us, it enters our shared inbox where all team members can see it. If your request falls clearly within one researcher's area — a Luxor-focused itinerary goes to Dr Rashwan, an Alexandria query goes to Dr Mansour — it is assigned within the first hour. General enquiries are handled by our operations lead, Mariam Youssef Khalil, who coordinates the initial response and routes any specialist follow-up questions to the appropriate researcher.

Our first reply is always substantive. We do not send automated acknowledgements that promise a "real" response later. If we need clarification before making a recommendation — your travel dates, group size, physical requirements — we will ask those questions in our first message, so that our second reply can be a concrete recommendation with pricing. Most clients receive a firm quote within two exchanges.

For trade enquiries — tour operators, booking platforms, travel agencies — please indicate your organisation name and the volume of content or data records you are looking for.
